The beginning

I’m the Director of Mujeres en Programación and I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in a community with a lot of needs, without access to a good education and where women were underestimated and undervalued. When I was younger I used to dream that someday someone would come and answer all my questions and give me the opportunity to explore the world and follow my interests. That never happened. This year I started a new program in omegaUp, Mujeres en Programación, a community for Latin women that want to learn to solve programming challenges. This is my way to honor my younger self, because I know that somewhere there is another young Nancy waiting for an opportunity to reach her dreams.

We have been surprised by the enthusiasm of the women that want to learn more, who have found in our community a place to ask for advice, a place to share their thoughts, their ideas, their dreams.

I found that if there is support for me and I'm not alone in my difficulties looking to grow in technology areas, it's worth keeping trying :)

I’m very interested in returning to programming classes since I will install an electronically controlled garden in my house (I’ll use programming to dose nutrients for my crops)
